Add Bitcoin Wallet (Ordinals)

PreviousAdd Ethereum WalletNextUpdate OpenSea Name

Last updated 6 months ago

In Order to run Ordinal Bidding Tasks you'll first have to add a Bitcoin Wallet to your Butler which will be used to run your bids.

Your private key will be kept saved strongly encrypted on your Butler app only. It will never be shared or sent anywhere. It's only used locally to sign your bids.

Supported Features

  • Wallets are imported based on it's private Key in WIF Format

  • Seeds are NOT supported by intention, only single wallets / accounts can be imported

  • We do support Segwit and Taproot wallets

  • Step by Step guides can be found below to import or

  • Wallets can be added on the Butler Dashboard:

Import Magic Eden Wallet

  • To add a BTC wallet the Private Key (WIF) of a BTC wallet is required. Please follow the below steps on the Magic Eden wallet to do so.

  • Go to your Magic Eden Wallet Settings and then go to "Security" and then hit "Back up":

  • Now hit the top right "Key icon" as we don't need the seed phrase but the Private Key (WIF) of a single BTC Wallet only! Finally choose your BTC Account and hit "View Key" which needs to be copy & pasted into Butler:

  • On the Butler Dashboard at the right side of the screen there is an "Add Wallet" Button which opens a Modal.

  • Now to add an Ordinals Wallet you need to switch the top Slider to "Bitcoin". Please read the Steps & Security carefully and on the left side!

  • On the right side you name your wallet, copy & paste your private Key (as described above), and also add your dedicated Ordinals Address from your Magic Eden Wallet to Butler:

Import Unisat Wallet

  • To export an Unisat Wallet open your Unisat Browser Extension and switch to your Account Overview.

  • On the Overview there are three dots listed on the right side of each Wallet which will give you the option to export an Account specific Private Key (WIF).

  • Exporting the Private key will warn you about the associated risk and require a confirmation by password.

  • Butler will store your privat key strongly encrypted on your Operating System's seceret store and it will only be used locally to sign your bids for you.

  • On the Butler Dashboard at the right side of the screen there is an "Add Wallet" Button which opens a Modal.

  • Now to add an Ordinals Wallet you need to switch the top Slider to "Bitcoin". Please read the Steps & Security carefully and on the left side!

  • On the right side you name your wallet, copy & paste your private Key (as described above), and also add a dedicated Taproot Address, which will be used to receive your Ordinals from accepeted bids:

  • In Unisat settings you can change your derivation path between Segwit and Taproot Wallets.

  • Be aware those are different Wallets with different Private Keys and addresses.

  • Once you've added a Wallet to Butler you can use the Slider in the Wallet Details to switch between Taproot and the Segwit address of such imported wallet. Further we're showing on which address your funds are located.

Currently we recommend to use for Ordinals bidding as you can easily created more than 10 Accounts (ME Wallet is limited) and easier to export Private Keys to use them in Butler
